Most of the time when I hike I’m alone, so no one else gets to witness what I see. And even though I often bring a camera, I only capture a tiny fraction of what’s out there. I know it’s a poor substitute for having you there with me, but still, I want to share some of what I happen to stumble upon when I go on my morning hikes.
I don’t live in any kind of exotic location. Cedar Rapids, Iowa is about as conventional of a place as any I’ve ever been. And most of these hikes take place within 2 miles of my home, right in the middle of this small city.
I love to travel and experience the novelty and adventure of far away places. But I also want these periodic posts to portray the staggering beauty that one can find in a region that many people imagine is boring and unremarkable.
It can be lonely out there. Don’t be a stranger!
